El año del Tigre / Year of the Tiger

Este año en Febrero ha empezado el Año del Tigre en China. Concretamente toda la gente que este año cumple un múltiplo de 12 años debe celebrar su año según el calendario chino. Según el zodiaco el tigre representa el orgullo y el éxito. Los tigres son seres independientes y arrogantes, son tenaces, inteligentes, intuitivos, sutiles y tan suaves como agresivos. De hecho, el símbolo que representa la palabra “tigre” es muy común en los nombres chinos, ya que los padres quieren que esa fortaleza del tigre sea heredada por sus hijos.

Pero todo tiene un lado malo, y es que según los chinos los que estamos en nuestro año del Tigre debemos llevar puesto siempre algo rojo para combatir la mala suerte. El rojo es para ellos sinónimo de buena suerte. Afortunadamente mis gafas son rojas así que no tengo que preocuparme de combinar ropa roja cada día. Si eres del año del tigre y vienes a China próximamente acuérdate de esto. Son tigres los nacidos en: 1902,1914,1926,1938,1950,1962,1974,1986,1998 y 2010.

Las felicitaciones de Año Nuevo están por todas partes, y se supone que China, el llamado Tigre Asiático está ahora en su año. De hecho, han decorado una estación de metro con dibujos de tigres…

A few weeks ago, in the middle of February, Year of the tiger has started in China. If you were born in 1902,1914,1926,1938,1950,1962,1974,1986,1998 or 2010, then you belong to the tiger generation. I was born in 86, so I am supposed to be a person with a successful life and lots of luck. For example, the character for tiger is included in most of the Chinese names because it means that the child will have the strength and intelligence of a tiger.

But there is something wrong for me this year: I am supposed to wear something red, otherwise I will be unlucky. Fortunately, my glasses are red so I don´t have to worry every morning about that when I get dressed.

I think this is such an interesting believing of Chinese people. This year is the “Year of China”, as it is called the Asian tiger, so people has turned crazy about this and they have even painted one subway station with tigers. Have a look!
